Fisher Space Pen
The legendary Fisher Space Pen seem to me, in many regards, the ultimate pen. It writes at any angle, underwater, at temperatures from -55 F to 400 F, and on more surfaces than almost any other pen! It has a unique, ultra-compact, stylish, clever design - making it a little over half the length of a standard pen when closed, but the length of a full sized pen when opened. Not only this, but the pen often becomes a point of conversation, due to its unusual legacy and technological advancement. The Space Pen gained its name because it was designed to be used by Astronauts in Zero-gravity and, according to NASA (I just checked their web site) is still used by both Russian and American Astronauts! It was developed by Fisher in the 1960s at an alleged cost of $1 million. Yes, a million dollars of design went into this pen. After using one of these, I found that ordinary ballpoint pens drove me crazy with their unreliability and tendency to freeze up at a critical moment. I've had no such problems with the Fisher Space Pen - and you should find that it rewards your investment many times over with its reliability. So, for all these reasons, the Fisher Space pen makes it onto this web site's list - and we think it's truly an Astounding Product. They're currently rolling out for prices around $20 on Amazon with refills around $4.
